FIFL Experience: Named 2003 Offensive
Player of the Year. Also named to the American Conference
All-Pro Team. Named MVP following 2009 season, after passing
for a career best 3,804 yards, 71.8 percentage, and 117.1
QB rating. Second all-time for most rushing yards in a season
by a quarterback with 294, set in 1999. Holds the record for
the longest rush by a quarterback with 77, set in 2001. Shares
the record with three others for most rushing touchdowns by
a quarterback with 3, set in 2000.
Professional Experience: Played one year
for the Lincoln Lightning (IFL) in 1999. Finished the season
110 for 187 (58.8 percent) for 1,082 yards with 22 touchdowns
and 2 interceptions. Ran 74 times for 402 yards (5.4 average)
with 15 touchdowns.
College: Played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers
as a backup to Scott Frost. The former walk-on played in 1994,
1996, 1997 and 1998, primarily as a backup quarterback, but
was always ready when needed. Christo endured numerous injuries
throughout his career and had surgery on his knee, back and
thumb (twice). He became just the first Husker walk-on to
start a game at quarterback since 1973 and the first since
Matt Turman started against Kansas State in 1994, when he
got the starting nod vs. Texas. He earned the starting role
after coming off the bench to lead the Huskers to victory
over Missouri the week before. In 1998, Christo rushed for
223 yards and three TDs and passed for 261 yards and two more
TDs
