PROFILE:

FIFL Experience: Played primarily Fullback position and backup Halfback from 2000-2004 where he totaled 1,019 yards on 227 carries and had 7 touchdowns. Became starting Halfback in 2005, where he ran for a season best 207 yards on 28 carries and 3 touchdowns in week 9 against the Dayton Skyhawks. Set FIFL record for touchdowns (19) and rushing average (5.6) in 2005 as he ran for 1,253 yards. Ran for a career best 1,263 yards in 2006 as he helped lead the Bayou Beast to a franchise best 12-2 record.

Professional Experience: Following college, Askew spent a year with the NIFL’s Lincoln Capitols, where he posted stunning numbers. He was an NIFL Pacific Conference Northern Division All-Star. He ran for 111 yards and seven touchdowns in the Capitol’s record-setting 120-15 victory against the River City Renegades (Lincoln vs. River City, June 29, 2002). Not surprisingly, the NIFL named Askew its Player of the Week for that performance. Askew notched the league’s top rushing performance of the 2002 season with his 126 yards on 20 rushing attempts in Lincoln’s playoff game against the Billings Outlaws (Lincoln vs. Billings, July 12, 2002). Signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on February 21st, 2003, but later released. Played the 2004 NIFL season with the Ohio Valley Greyhounds.

College: Askew played four years of college football with the Elizabeth City State Vikings. In his senior season, Askew ran for 833 yards and five touchdowns on 182 carries. He added another 265 yards and two touchdowns on 23 receptions. His seven scores were tops on the Vikings that season. Askew had the unique distinction of playing college football with his older brother Mister Askew. His brother – a fullback – gave the Vikings what was possibly the only backfield brother combination in the NCAA in 1999.

Personal: Born March 28th, 1979 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
