FIFL Experience: Drafted by the Austin
Knights in the 1st round of the 2006 FIFL Draft (8th overall).
Named Offensive Player of the Game 21 times in his career,
and named to the Pro-Bowl twice. Garcia holds a 47-63-0 career
record as a starter.
Professional Experience: Was signed by
the San Francisco 49ers in the off-season of 2002 and participated
in their mini-camp… Returned to the Dragons on June 22nd at
San Jose going 17-37 for 228 yards and five touchdowns… Played
in five games going 102-188-9 for 1,390 yards and 29 TD’s…Finished
the season ranked third in AFL history in touchdown passes
and fourth in completions and passing yardage.…Garcia is the
only quarterback in AFL history to throw for 100 TD passes
in a single season (104 in 2001)…Garcia has the third best
single-season quarterback rating (123.10 in 2000) in AFL history…Garcia
has the seventh best single-season passing yards total (4,026
in 2000) in AFL history. He also holds the 11th best mark
(3,815 in 1999)… Garcia holds Barnstormers single-season records
for most TD passes (92) and rushing touchdowns (15)…Garcia
holds the Barnstormers franchise single-game regular season
records for passing yards (431), TD passes (9) and rushing
touchdowns (3).
College: Garcia started as a freshman
at Washington State and threw for more than 1,500 yards. In
his sophomore year, Garcia’s starting job was taken away by
Drew Bledsoe (currently with the Buffalo Bills) and Garcia
transferred to Sacramento State. There, he threw for 1,798
yards and 13 touchdowns his senior season.
Personal: Attended
Grand High School in Sacramento, Ca., where he shattered John
Elway’s California State High School passing, yardage and
touchdown records with a two-year prep total of 5,800 yards
and 57 touchdown passes.
