FIFL Experience: Awarded Rookie of the
Year in 1999. Named Offensive Player of the Week four times
in his career. All-Time leader in Honolulu history for receptions,
receiving yardage, touchdowns and all-purpose yardage.
Professional Experience: One of the most
dangerous all-purpose players in Arena Football, Jones is
a constant threat to return kicks for touchdowns and outrun
even the quickest defenders to the end zone…Was second in
the league in kickoff returns in 2000 with a 22.9-yard average,
and he was the AFL’s leading receiver in the playoffs…In 1999,
he ranked third in the AFL with 2,748 all-purpose yards and
led the team in receiving yards…As a rookie, he was chosen
as the team’s MVP and selected to the AFL All-Rookie squad
after running back more kicks for touchdowns than any other
player in the league…Jones makes up for his small size with
blazing speed and quickness…Holds the Arena Football record
for the most consecutive games with a kickoff return for a
touchdown with four...Played two seasons on the practice squad
with the Indianapolis Colts.
College Experience: Played under legendary
coach Eddie Robinson at Grambling, where he was an All-Southwest
Athletic Conference player in his senior season of 1994…Considered
by many to be the best speedster in Division I-AA football
in 1993 and 1994…Caught 56 passes in his two years with the
Tigers, gaining 1,254 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns through
the air…Ran for 280 yards as a wing back in 1993 and 94…Scored
four touchdowns in breathtaking 65-56 win over Steve McNair-led
Alcorn State in 1994…Caught two touchdowns in Heritage Bowl
his senior year…Led the team with 33 receptions in 1994 and
ranked second on the squad with 23 catches in 1993.
Personal: Hails
from New Orleans, where he was an All-American back at Carver
High School, playing ahead of NFL star Marshall Faulk…Works
as a barber and a coach in New Orleans during the off season…Married
to Kristine and father of six children.
